Of Administrative Ease, Energized Students & Rote Resources (Thrive in Three, Opus. 9)

Administrative Ease

I’m not sure what sort of miracle happened over here, but this was my easiest-ever start to a new teaching year when it came to studio admin!

Of course, my curious mind wanted to figure out what made it feel so much easier.

First: retention. Returning families are GOLD when it comes to communication and scheduling.

Second: having great drafts and a curated collection of emails ready to customize for a new season.

What went well for you this year when it came to studio admin?

I’d love to hear about it!

Energized Students

Wiggly Student Survival Guide

If you have a student who comes to mind when I say, “No amount of midday caffeination on a Thursday can prepare me for this student…” then this video is for you.

It’s a deep dive into sustainable strategies for engaging your busiest, wiggliest students—without draining yourself in the process.

Rote Resources

While preparing for my students this month, I was reminded of a lovely free resource from Roots: “100 Improv Prompts for Piano.” It’s a fabulous collection of quick improvising prompts—perfect for exploring alongside students.

Their library also has some wonderful rote repertoire ideas that I’ve enjoyed using this Fall!
